About This Species

Atlantic species measuring 4-5.5m, most commonly sighted mesoplodont off U.S. Atlantic coast and Gulf of Mexico. Males have small teeth positioned about one-third back from jaw tip. Inhabits warm temperate and tropical Atlantic waters, with some records from Mediterranean. Shows typical mesoplodont deep-diving behavior and squid-based diet.
