About This Species

Most widespread mesoplodont with cosmopolitan distribution in tropical and warm temperate waters. Measures 4.5-6.2m with distinctive dense bone structure in rostrum. Males have flattened, massive teeth that arch over upper jaw. Best-studied mesoplodont due to long-term research in Hawaii and Bahamas, showing fluid social structure with females forming more stable groups than males.
