About This Species

Smaller than pygmy sperm whale at 2-2.7m length and 136-272kg weight, distinguished by dorsal fin position closer to mid-body. Inhabits continental shelves and slopes in temperate and tropical oceans, feeding primarily on squid through suction feeding. Lives in small pods of 1-4 individuals.
