Southern Hemisphere counterpart to northern bottlenose whale, reaching up to 7.8m in females and 7.14m in males. Inhabits deep Antarctic and subantarctic waters, often associated with sea ice. Distinguished by lower cranial crests compared to northern species and brownish-grey coloration that lightens with age to yellowish-white in older individuals.
