About This Species
The smallest baleen whale at only 6.5m (21ft) and up to 4.5 tons, found exclusively in Southern Hemisphere cold temperate waters around Antarctica. Distinguished by streamlined body, small falcate dorsal fin, and strongly arched jawline, representing the last surviving member of the ancient cetothere family. Extremely poorly known due to its remote habitat and rarity of sightings.
