About This Species

Recently described species (2003) reaching 10-12m (33-39ft), closely related to Bryde's whales but smaller with distinctive asymmetrical coloration similar to fin whales and fewer baleen plates than other rorquals. Found primarily in tropical Indo-Pacific waters, with some populations apparently non-migratory. Extremely poorly known with very few confirmed sightings.
