About This Species

Medium-sized tropical rorqual reaching 12-15m (40-50ft), distinguished by three prominent parallel ridges on the rostrum and preference for warm waters between 40°N and 40°S. Often confused with sei whales but found year-round in tropical waters rather than migrating. Taxonomic status remains complex with potential subspecies differentiation and frequent confusion with related species.
