About This Species

Largest beaked whale reaching up to 12.8m, found in deep North Pacific waters. Distinguished by prominent bulbous melon, long bottlenose-like beak, and four teeth visible at tip of lower jaw in both sexes. Highly social with groups of 5-20 individuals, capable of diving over 1,000m for extended periods to feed on squid and deep-sea fish.
